AUGUSTA - Edwin W Antz III, age 59, passed away while at Togus Springs at Veterans Hospital in Chelsea, Maine on Friday, March 20, 2015, after a one year battle with cancer. He passed comfortably in his sleep surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born May 15, 1955, in Montpelier, Vt. He grew up in Hallowell and Gardiner, graduating from Gardiner High School in 1973.

He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Forrestal. He worked at Togus VA after leaving the Navy then worked at Bath Iron Works as a welder before becoming disabled. He also enjoyed helping out at Augusta West Kampground.

He enjoyed camping, hunting, mechanic work, motorcycles, and socializing with his friends.

He was predeceased by his father Edwin Jr and mom Patricia.

He is survived by his wife Ann Abram Antz of Augusta; his son Myles Antz of Charleston, Maine, stepsons Graham Pridham of Portland, Ore., and Eric Pridham and wife Jenn of Mountain View, Calif.; his brother Edgar and wife Anne, and three sisters Peggy, Penny and Pam; and many nieces and nephews and their children.

Committal services with military honors will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery on 163 Mt Vernon Road in Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: VA Hospice Care Unit at Togus or to the Maine General Hospital (Augusta Unit) in his memory. (Central Maine 3/25/2015)
