Jose was born November 18, 1922 in Seguin, Texas to Clemente Campos and Edubejen Morales. His parents preceded him in death. Jose was also preceded in death by his sons Larry P. Campos and Joey Campos; brothers Chale Campos, Abel Campos, Julian Campos, Efrain Campos, Lolo Campos and Jesus Campos; sisters Maria Flores, Anita Martinez and Emilia Gonzales; grandson Matthew Ortega and his great grandson Nico Ortego.
Jose was a hardworking man, and industrial accident did not hold him back at age 23. He went on to be a self-employed truck driver with only on arm which was crippled and his legs were injured. When he retired his life consisted to reading his bible and helping others. He opened his humble home to those who needed one, never turning away anyone.
