Little is known about the early life of Leo William McCormack, except that he was the only husband of Frances V. (Stickles) McCormack.
On 26 May 1942, Leo and Frances submitted an 'Application for License' for marriage to Deputy Clerk of District of Columbia. On that application, Leo's age is listed as 24 (same as Frances), that neither had ever been married before, and that Leo was a resident at that time of Boston, Massachusetts. Also on this application, the marriage of Leo and Frances is declared to have occured on 27 June 1942 at St. Peter's Church in District of Columbia.
Leo also served in the U.S. Navy; how many years is unknown, but it is believed to have before he married Frances.
The marriage of Leo and Frances produced four children: Frank "Frankie" McCormack; Martin "Marty" McCormack; Monica (McCormack) Mock; Mary Pat (McCormack) Cropper/Legg. Apparently, Leo and Frances raised their family in or around Falls Church (Fairfax County),and south Arlington (Arlington, County) Virginia.
With the early death of their second son Marty in 1955 due to cancer, the marriage evidently became difficult to sustain, and Virginia and Leo divorced some years thereafter.

Upon Leo's death at age 72, he was layed to rest with his youngest son, Marty; one standard military grave stone there in Arlington National Cemetery (annotated on front and back) marks the final resting places of each.
