Frederick Winchester Bobbitt was the son of Frank and Cecilia (Kennedy) Bobbitt. His father was born in Hancock County, IL and his mother in Erie Co, PA. Frank's grandfather (Isham Drury Bobbitt) was a Revolutionary War soldier in the Battle of Guilford, NC. His father (Isham Drury Bobbitt) is buried in Marshall County, IL.

Cecilia Kennedy's parents came to America from England in the early 1830s.

Fred was born in amongst the fertile farm lands of Marshall County, Illinois. He grew up there and in NE, MO, KS and OK. In later years Fred lived in CA and NV where he worked at a variety of jobs.

Fred had 4 younger siblings:
William, Francis, Clifford and Josephine.
