Alice was the daughter of Daniel Phipps and Ida Mae Kitch. She was married on December 25th, 1928 in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri to Marcelus Emil "Mart" DePreste. Mart and Alice were the parents of two daughters; Marjory "Margie" Lee and Patty Jo DePreste .
