JERRY LEE MARTIN

Jerry Lee Martin of Sanger, Ca., passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the age of 76 years. Born in Fort Smith, Ar., Jerry moved with his family when he was 12 years old to Fresno, Ca., where he would discover his roots and make a home. Uniquely gifted with both an independent and generous spirit, Jerry quickly found success in all his endeavors. At 13 years old, he threw papers for The Fresno Bee, achieving a perfect throwing record for four consecutive years. Upon graduation from Roosevelt High School at the age of 17 years, Jerry found his passion in the manufacturing industry, having worked with Northrop Grumman and Vendorlator as an expert jig and fixture maker.

He fell in love and married the love of his life, Bonnie Shoffner of Sanger, Ca., at the age of 19 and began his family shortly thereafter. At 26 years old, Jerry and his brother, Jack, took their unparalleled mastery of tool and die making and became entrepreneurs. After countless hours of hard work, determination, grit and grind, Jerry reaped the fruit of his labors by owning the largest tool and die manufacturing company in the central valley. While a succesful businessman, he also was a great husband and father who deeply enjoyed the time spent with his friends and family. From building cabins and snowmobiling with his sons to hunting and fishing with his Boston Whaler on Shaver Lake with friends, Jerry was a gem in lives of many. Combining his love for work and family, Jerry had the fortune of being able to work with his son, Dennis, for 38 years. His warmest memories are the many gatherings he shared with his family and joking with his friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Michael Martin.

He will be deeply missed and always remembered for the kind, loving, generous man he was, and the jokes he loved to leave us laughing with. We will miss your smile and your voice, and most of all, "We love you, babe."

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Martin, son, Dennis Martin; grandchildren, Justin Martin, Joseph Martin, Joanna Tilghman, and Jerry Martin; and his great-grandson, David Martin.

A Viewing will be held at Wallin's Funeral Home in Sanger on Tuesday, April 19, 2001, at 10 a.m., followed by a graveside memorial at Sanger Cemetery.

Remembrances can be made in the form of charitable contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2222 W. Shaw Ave., Ste. 201, Fresno, Ca. 93711
