ACCIDENTAL FALL RESULTED IN FATAL INJURIES
An accidental fall from a platform at the rear of the Square Inn, 63 Public Square, Friday shortly after 7 PM, caused head injuries which were fatal to Franz Abbott, 67, of 1755 Florence Ave, a coroner's jury ruled Monday night. An inquest into Abbott's death, which took place Saturday at 10 AM, in St. Mary's Hospital, was conducted at the Foley Mortuary by Dr. Richard H Bick, deputy Knox County coroner.
Testimony at the inquest was by Det. Jesse Moss, Jr, who with Officer Kenneth Harding conducted an investigation. Abbott apparently had gone to the rear platform to await a taxicab, which had been called to take him to his residence. The officers' investigation disclosed no evidence of foul play, Moss stated.
