Entered service June 17, 1918; to Jefferson Barracks; sailed for France October 7, 1918. Sailed for USA December 25, 1918; was on Northern Pacific steamship when she hit sand bar in storm with 1700 wounded aboard; 27 war vessels came to rescue from New York off Fire Islands; stood in distress for 3 days; had to abandon ship; everybody was taken off without an assistant after the sea had calmed; discharged February 10, 1919.
