I did not know Tracy personally, but saw her story on TV and wanted to honor her.I wept watching the end. .Women need to be aware of stalking, and report it immediately.This was a beautiful women inside and out.She now shines in heaven.May God continue to comfort her family.
Tracy Lynn Morris was a beautiful young nurse in Huntsville, AL. She loved her family and friends, and enjoyed her little Shih Tzu, Scooby. She was single and had no children. When she laughed she would snort so much she couldn't breath, and everybody else in the room would get sore ribs just laughing with her. She was a bright and shining star loved by many…
She came into the world on November 22, 1965 in a whirlwind medical emergency. Her mother woke up bleeding and needed to get to the hospital immediately. Tracy's father called the police to tell them to clear a path, because he would be driving them to the hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance. With that, they got in the family station wagon and raced to Portsmouth Naval Hospital 20 miles away. Tracy was born by cesarean section. As an infant, she caught scarlet fever and nearly died. Her father stayed up and held her all night to make sure she kept breathing. She was a fighter from the get-go.
Tracy was a Navy brat, raised along the eastern seaboard. After her father retired from the Navy, the family settled in Madison, AL where she graduated from Bob Jones High School and went on to attend nursing school at the University of North Alabama. She wanted to be a nurse simply because she cared so much for people. Her compassion for others led her to work with Hospice so she could help the terminally ill. She also worked in local emergency rooms. Several of her patients would attend her funeral…
On Saturday, January 2, 1999, a man named Jason Michael Sharp came to Tracy's home with one thing on his mind. He had stalked her for more than two years; leaving gifts, flowers, notes… calling her on the phone, sending un-wanted emails, driving by her house, knocking on her door at all hours… But this time he wasn't going to take no for an answer.
He met her at the door on that grey winter day as she was leaving for work. She worked the night shift and would often go to her parents' house for dinner before she went in. Of course Jason knew her schedule… He pushed her back into the kitchen, punched her in the face, kicked her when she was down, bound her with duct tape, drug her to her bedroom, had his way, and stabbed her 37 times with a screwdriver. Then he got up and left. He was 22 years old, 6'4, 220 lbs. She was 5'4" 120 lbs.
Alarmed that her daughter had not arrived for dinner in time and was not answering pages or calls, Mrs. Morris drove to Tracy's home and found her dying. Frantically, she called her husband, then 911. They followed the ambulance to the hospital where Tracy died of her wounds. She was 33.
Jason Michael sharp now sits on death row in an Alabama penitentiary.
Tracy is survived by her parents and brother Brian.
