Louise (Shorty) Sears Bashore was born in a house in Azusa near the San Gabriel canyon where her father worked for the rock and sand company. The family, sister Annette, father Harvey Andrew, and mother India, moved to 5th Street in Azusa in the mid 1920's. She attended Azusa schools and graduated from Citrus Union High School as a National Honor Student in 1940. Her interests and hobbies were stamp collecting, playing clarinet in the band and orchestra, cheerleading, and sports. After graduation from high school, she worked at the Packing house in Azusa and later was a Hostess with the USO. In 1945 after the war, she married Glenn H. Bashore who she had dated during high school. Louise and Glenn moved to a small house in Azusa where they raised two children. In later years, they moved to the house they had built nearby. In 1955 Louise was hired by the City of Azusa as a Swimming Pool Lifeguard, Instructor, and Swim Coach during the summertime.
