KEYROCK — Moses Adkins Jr., 82, of Keyrock, died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Adkins was employed by C.E. Richner for 11 years and Robinson Phillips Coal Co. as a truck driver for 23 years. He was also a member of Local Union 7604. He enjoyed camping.

Born April 11, 1927, he was the son of the late Moses "Mose" Adkins Sr. (1904-1952) and Ida Jane Farley-Adkins (1900-1988). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Denny Adkins (1938-1940), Herbert Adkins (1928-2002) and Rodney Adkins (1932-2000).

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Vida Laxton-Adkins (B. 1934) whom he married on September 10, 1949 in Pineville, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1949, Page 166, Application Date: September 3, 1949); three sons, Larry Adkins & wife Lorraine Adkins of Jasper, AL, Kenny Adkins & wife Deanna Adkins of Matheny and Thomas "Tommy" D. Adkins (1958-2019) and his wife Connie Adkins of Matheny; two daughters, Betty Adkins-Walker & husband Raymond Adkins of Keyrock and Pamela Adkins-McCoy & husband Russell McCoy of Keyrock; three sisters, Ruby Adkins-Shumate (1925-2010) of Keyrock and Arlene "Pansy" Adkins-Shumate (1931-2012) and Dorothy Adkins, both of Oceana; three brothers, Woodrow "Bud" Adkins, Jimmy Adkins and Bobby Joe Adkins, all of Keyrock; ten grandchildren, Keith Walker & wife Angel Walker of Madison, NC, Brian Walker & wife Bridgette Walker of Keyrock, Dawn Morgan & husband William Morgan of Kernersville, NC, Adam McCoy & wife Nicki McCoy of Mt. Sterling, KY, Jared Adkins of Atlanta, GA, Brent Adkins of Jasper, AL, Cheryl Weldy & husband Stan Weldy of Calera, AL, Crystal Adkins of Keyrock, Jason Adkins of Matheny, and Brittany Shrewsbury of Matheny; and ten great-grandchildren, Emily Walker, Tyler Walker, Alexis Walker, Brooklyn Walker, Dawson Walker, Evan Morgan, Livingston Privett, Riley McCoy, Jenna Weldy and Baylor Weldy.

A celebration of Moses' life will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Saulsville Old Regular Baptist Church with Elder Russell McCoy and Mr. Raymond Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
