Theodore J. Speaker Sr. was born on December 11, 1908 in Hitchcock to Alice and Fred Speaker. He had one sister, Millie who died during childbirth when she was 20. His brothers were Fred Speaker, Louis Speaker, and George Speaker and Herman Speaker. He had a halfbrother named Willie Speaker. Ted married Mena Dyda from Alta Loma Texas and went on to have six children. Their first child, Billie Lee Speaker, died at several days of age from a heart defect called a 'blue baby' back in those days. Robert Lee Speaker (deceased 1994), Theodore J. Speaker, Jr., (deceased July 2021) James Douglas Speaker (deceased 2002), Patricia Speaker Bennett and Shirley Speaker Baer followed. He had eight grandchildren. Laurie Baer, the youngest, deceased December 4, 1992.
