Fred was born Oct. 21, 1920 in Centerville, Faulkner County, to the late E.L. And Ethel Blair McNew.
Fred was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Air Force. He was also a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelors degree in agriculture. Fred served as vice president for Arkansas of the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Bessie Henderson and Gladys Carden.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte Kautz McNew of the home; a step-daughter, Suzanne Cardin (Nolen) of Greenbrier, five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Hettie Harris of Rogers, Colleen Owen (L.D) of Russellville, several nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Conway with the Rev. Lynn Kilbourne presiding. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Conway. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway.
Pallbearers will be Gary Cardin, Greg Cardin, Michael Cardin, Steven Cardin, Nathan Cardin, and Lindsey Owen. Honorary pallbearers are the George Hartje Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Conway Food Pantry.
