SODA SPRINGS - Ruth Kynaston Langston, 89, of Soda Springs, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Caribou Memorial Living Center.
She was born January 12, 1919, at Bancroft, Idaho, the daughter of John and Stella Ann Phillips Kynaston. She was raised and educated in Bancroft, living there for 19 years. She had also lived in Central for 13 years and Soda Springs for the past 40 years.
She married Leroy J. Anderson November 9, 1937, in Ogden, Utah. They were later divorced. She married Floyd Leslie Langston May 15, 1958, at Elko, Nevada. He passed away July 19, 1985.
She was a member of the LDS Church. She had served as Primary president and a teacher; Relief Society secretary; a Sunday school teacher and a Mutual teacher.
Ruth had served as president of VFW auxiliary and was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 28, and had served as secretary and treasurer. She loved to visit with friends and play cards.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Roylene Lucas and Cheryl Mayne, both of Soda Springs. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Kynaston, Salt Lake City, Utah. Ruth also raised her three oldest grandchildren, Les Sturges, Mike Sturges and Monica Ivory. She was preceded in death by three brothers, six sisters and two infant sons.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 21 at noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center. Friends may call on Wednesday evening at the Sims Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday at the stake center from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
The family suggests donations may be made to the VFW Auxiliary No. 9141. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
