Merle O. Borseth, 49, of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday, Oct. 3 at St. Luke's Hospital there following a long illness.
Born December 16, 1928 in Decorah, he was the son of the late Carl & Ida Borseth & graduated from Decorah Community schools.
He was married to the former Elsie Fite, who died January 1, 1974. He was employed by H & W. Motor Freight & was a member of the Eagles Club & the Teamsters Union. He served with the Army during the Korean War.
Surviving are a step-daughter, Charlene Trexler, Cedar Rapids; 3 brothers, Norman, Clifford, & Stanley, all of Decorah; & 2 sisters, Sadie Lensch, Decorah & Arla Hirsch, Charles City.
Funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 5 at 1 pm a Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Terry Sind of Hope Lutheran Church officiating. Organist was Mrs. Gary Shedenhelm. Funeral Home in charge was Cedar Memorial.
Burial was in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids with the following serving as honary pallbearers: Larry Brown, Omaha, Robert Lensch, Des Moines, Scott Brown, Waterloo, Harry Lensch Jr., Decorah, David Lensch & John Lensch, Decorah, & Donald Schminkey & Fred Fleck, Cedar Rapids, nephews & friends.
Merle & Elsie had no children together.
