She chose to never marry and is survived by; two brothers, Charles (and Carolyn) Meece of Knoxville, TN and Buddy (and Janis) Meece of Bloomington, IN; two sisters, Mary Mitchell of Cincinnati, OH and Betty Harris and her close friend Billy Meece of Somerset, KY; one brother-in-law, Clarence Keeney of Somerset, KY, 20 nieces and nephews, 42 great nieces and nephews, and 40 great great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Zona devoted her life to her church, the East Somerset Baptist Church, where she had the honor of being the longest living member, she was a retired employee of J. & J. Newberry's and Company where she worked as a sales clerk for 30 years. She was especially close to her mother while she was living, and the following nieces and nephews; Wayne Harris, Vickie Smith, Karen Hall, and Brenda Harris along with a special nephew, Jimmy Meece of El Paso, TX, whom she raised since his birth. She was cared for in her last months and days by her sister; Betty Harris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leonard and James Curtis "J.C." Meece; four sisters, Odetta Bibee, Velma Meece, Viola Bullock, and Rebecca Keeney.
Zona was a kind and thoughtful Christian lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Donovan Smith, Bro. Darvie Fenison, Tony Hall and Buddy Meece all having a part in the services.
Burial followed in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
