Lawrence Abel, 76, died July 19, 2010, at his home.

He was born in New York City and lived in Vero Beach 10 years, coming from Brooklyn, N.Y.

Before retirement, he had been a school bus driver for New York City schools.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of the Crossing Community Church in Vero Beach.

He was a member of many area bowling leagues.

He was a graduate of George Washington University.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Sharon Abel of Vero Beach; daughters, Eileen Fisher and Janice Pam, both of New York; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Abel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

@Obit services:Services: Visitation will be July 25 at Crossing Community Church, Vero Beach, with a luncheon at noon and life celebration service at 1 p.m. Inurnment will be at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth. A
