Leroy Michael Belarde of Montrose died on Sunday May 30, 2004 at his Montrose residence at the age 67. Leroy was born in Montrose Colo. on Sept.25,1936 the son of Emilio and Pauline(Carbajal)Belarde.

On Dec.11,1965 Leroy entered into marriage and a lifetime partership with the love of his life Mary Barrientos at St Marys Catholic Church in Montrose. They had the priviledge of sharing 35 years of marriage.

Uncle Leroy was employed with the city of Montrose for 35 years. He spent so much time driving around Montrose with his sweeper, he was prone to advise his family how to drive. When his chidren were small they were allowed to accompany Leroy at the end of each parade in Montrose. He would tell them to wave and it wasn't until they were much older that they realized they were not in the parade.

Uncle Leroy loved to cook and loved being in the kitchen. After his retirement, he assumed the cooking duties for the family. He loved to play horseshoes and play a game of poker. He was a avid reader of current event, religious books, and history. Leroy also loved the outdoors, fishing, and camping. When his children became adults, married with children, you could always find him still hanging out at his sons and daughters home. He kept his family very close.

What I learned from him, just because your family members moves on, it dosent mean we drift away. He made sure he didnt let that happen. To call everyday and visit, he didnt lose any time to love his family. He served in the Army in World War 11. He left behind his loving wife Mary, and a sons Martin aand Joseph along with his daughter Darlene. Not only was he the best husband an father, but he was also the best uncle there could be.

He then was diagnosed with a lung disease from smoking. We all wanted him to quit smoking, but it was just to hard for him. I will always remember you and love you Uncle forever and ever.
