US Congressman. He served as a Captain in the 6th Company, 8th Regiment of the Connecticut Militia, until he moved to Aurora, New York, in 1795. There he became successful farmer and owner of a large tract of land. In 1811, he was elected as a Republican to the Twelfth and Thirteenth Congresses and reelected to the Fourteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Enos T. Throop, serving until 1817. After his term, he was connected with the land office in Cayuga County, New York and managed his estate until his death at age 75.
