A Celebration of Life Service was held at 3 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Orangeburg Lutheran Church, with Pastor Everett Price officiating. The family received friends immediately following the service.
She was the daughter of the late Rudolph Stakemann and Gladys Eversley Stakemann. As a child, she attended the Henry Street Settlement Music School. From a young age, she had a passion for music that transcended into her becoming an accomplished pianist and organist, serving several churches in upstate New York. As part of her career, she worked as a Lab Technician at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, where her only son was born. Later, she attended nursing college and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of the Hudson Valley Choral Society of New York and the Orangeburg Lutheran Church. An avid world traveler and lover of fine food, she shared her superior cooking and baking talents with those she loved. She was a friend to many; her personality was a frequent topic of conversation. Her witty nature and sense of humor was a warm ray of sunshine in the lives of those who knew her and loved her. In addition to her many endearing qualities, she will be remembered as a lady who possessed unconditional love for other and exhibited that love in all that she would say or do. A life well lived; Thanks be to God.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Megan Johnson of Orangeburg, SC; brother, Rudolph Stakemann of the Country of Norway; aunt, Violet Singler of Secaucus, NJ and her cats whom she adored, Bear, Apollo and Big Red.
