On April 26, 2010, Charlene Mitchell Barber passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family and friends. Charlene was born on April 23, 1949, in Pine Bluff, Ark.

Charlene's burial will be Thursday, April 29, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church.

Charlene graduated from Robert E Lee High School in 1967 and attended Tyler Junior College. In 1971, Charlene married Tommy Eugene Barber. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, the Altar Guild and the Junior League of Tyler.

Charlene was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Milo Barber; parents, Charlie C. and Amy Thomas Mitchell; and parents-in-law, Marie and Robert Barber.

She is survived by her loving family, including her husband and best friend of 40 years, Tommy; children, Richard Lee Barber and wife Patricia, Amy Barber Steves and husband Kurt Monier Steves, Robert Louis Barber, Lucy "Cissy" DeRion Griggs, James Robert Barber and wife Lia; grandchildren, Katelynn Marie and Madison Renee Barber, Carlyle Elizabeth and Margaret Mitchell Steves, Jonathan Barber, Jamie Odom, Morgan and David Griggs, and Isabella Barber. Charlene is also survived by her siblings, Mike Mitchell of Little Rock, Ark., Diane Borges and husband Pete of Denton, and Ginger Nickolson and husband Ed of Prairie Grove, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials in honor of Charlene Mitchell Barber may be given to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Des Paines, Ill., 60018; or the American Cancer Society, 1301 S. Broadway Ave., Tyler, 75701.
