Spc. Johnathon F. Davis, 20, of Griffin, Ga., died Mar. 29, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from enemy small arms fire. Davis was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. SPC Davis was born in Riverdale, Georgia on January 7, 1992. He was a member of Griffin First Assembly, where he was active in the Evolve Youth Group. He was a 2010 graduate of Griffin High School and played on the Varsity Soccer Team. SPC Davis was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. and was currently serving in Afghanistan. Survivors include his wife, Kristen Peavy Davis; unborn son, Benjamin Johnathon Davis; father and mother, Kerry and Tracey Morris Davis; brothers, United States Navy Seaman, Kenneth Davis, Steven Davis, Timothy Davis and Luke Davis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Glenda Dempsey Peavy; sister-in-law Morgan Peavy, grandparents, Frank and Pat Davis, the late Reverend John and the late Olenia Morris; great grandmother, Maureen Cotton, grandparents-in-law, William and Sandra Dempsey; aunt, Deborah Jimmerson; John had several aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his pet companions, Niko and Penny.
