Lonzora Beard Jackson was born October 13, 1928 in Milam County, Texas to Lonnie Franklin and Rosa Lee (Moses) Beard. During her childhood, she helped pick cotton and grow watermelons.

On March 5, 1971, she and Harvey Jackson were married in Cameron. She was a longtime resident of Lexington and has lived in Pasadena the past two years. Lonzora worked as a nurse's aide with Austin State Hospital and Hennessey Nursing Home in Giddings. He and her husband built fences throughout Lee County. They also disassembled log cabins they found in the country and reassembled them on the square in Lexington.

Lonzora passed away Wednesday morning, August 17, 2011 in the Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena reaching the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey on December 24, 1987 along with nine siblings.

Surviving; her son, Jim Collins and wife Norma Jean of Castlerock, Washington. 2 daughters, Joyce Mitchell & fiancee David Lucas of Houston, Nancy Paul & fiancee Bob Cain of Channelview. Brother, Ronald Gene Beard of Blue. 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011 in the Phillips & Luckey Chapel in Rockdale with burial following in the Salty Cemetery. Brother Bob Walrath will officiate.

Visitation will be 5PM to 8PM Friday, August 26, 2011 at the funeral home in Rockdale.
