GOLDIA P. McAdoo
Goldia P. McAdoo, age 89, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on June 13, 2004. Mrs. McAdoo was born to Maud W. and L. Gertrude Hays on March 24, 1915, in Alton, Missouri. Goldia was raised in Southwestern Kansas and graduated from Hugoton Rural High School in 1937. She then attended Emporia State Teachers College, Emporia, Kansas where she received a degree in Education. She taught school in Stevens County, Kansas. Mrs. McAdoo retired from Federal Civil Service as a Communications Specialist.
Mrs. McAdoo married Sgt. Francis E. Beadle in 1943. Sgt. Beadle was killed in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. She met Master Sgt Max McAdoo of Hugoton, Kansas and they married on May 11 1946. During his years in the Army, they spent four tours in Germany. After his retirement from the military, they moved to Colorado Springs. Max died in 1984.
Mrs. McAdoo was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Colorado Springs, the American Business Women's Association, where she was selected Woman of the Year, Columbine Chapter, in 1971, and the Gold Star Wives. Mrs. McAdoo was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by Helen O'Brien of La Hubra, California; Flora M. LeVaugh of Colorado Springs; Jack W. Hays (Betty) of Lake Jackson, Texas; and Rosemary H. Roche of Frankfort, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services and burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Memorial Gardens, 38215 Airport Road, Colorado Springs. Memorials may be made in her name to Silver Key Senior Services of Colorado Springs. Her family wishes to give special thanks to Mrs. McAdoo's good friend, Ethel Mahoney and to Memorial Hospital and Pikes Peak Hospice.
