Clarence Wilbur Baker, son of Clarence and Minnie (Miller) Baker, was born July 12, 1909 near Leon, Iowa, and died May 20, 1979 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, 69 years,10 months and 8 days of age, after a lingering illness of 1 1/2 years.
Wilbur married Nadine Reynolds in Trenton, Mo., in 1931. To this union nine children were born. Wilbur and Nadine moved to Des Moines in1943. He worked as a welder at Ford Implement 28 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of Union Local No. 991. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Des Moines.
Preceding him in death were parents; infant son and daughter. He is survived by widow Nadine, Des Moines; three daughters, Virginia Berry, Des Moines; Karen Garcia, West Des Moines; and Connie Carder, Des Moines; four sons, Paul, Robert, David and Donald, all of Des Moines; brother Virgil Baker, Centerville, Iowa; four sisters, Wilma Tilford, Indianola; Sylvia Goldbury, Overland Park, Kan.; Dorothy Wilcox, Ottumwa; and Irene Webb, Des Moines; 15 grandsons; 11 granddaughters; and six great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Baker, Clarence Wilbur, 69, Des Moines, died May 20. Service was conducted from Steward-Duerr Funeral Home May 22 with Fr. Dennis Trausch officiating.
