Military services for Eric "Hoot" Baum Armstrong, 90, will be in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.

Mr. Armstrong died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, in Plainview. He was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Corvallis, Ore., to Charles Eric and Ramona Gladys Armstrong.

He graduated from Grant High School in Oregon and attended Stanford University. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII then in the U.S. Air Force. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Northrop Aircraft Company and lived in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. He retired from Northrop and moved to Oceanside, Calif. He married Wanda Anne Watkins. He was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Fred Pieper of Houston, Beverly and Don Manley of Plainview and Erin McGranahan and Bonnie and Mike Haslauer, all of Azle; a sister, Eleanor Wilson, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

His parents; his wife; three brothers; and three sisters are deceased.
