Alfred Lennon, sometimes known as Alf or Freddie was the estranged father of Beatles member John Lennon. He married Julia Stanley in 1938 and they had their son, John in 1940. During this time, Alf was often away fighting in World War II. After the war, he left his family to live in New Zealand. He did not see his son, for another 20 years. Alfred reunited with his son, after John had become a star, but the reunion did not make them closer. Alfred would later marry Pauline Jones, a woman half his age and have two sons with her. Alfred Lennon died of stomach cancer in 1976.
