Anna E. Asp, 94, of Gifford, formerly of Morris, died Tuesday morning (March 4, 2008) at her daughter's home.

She was born to Rev. L.L. and Trina Masted on Feb. 1, 1914, in Amherst Junction, Wis. She grew up in Newark. She graduated from Pleasant View Academy in Ottawa, attended Normal School in DeKalb and graduated from the Lutheran Bible Institute in Maple, Minn. It was there she met James W. Asp. They were married in 1941 and following his graduation from Lutheran Seminary, she served with him in pastoral ministry in many locations in the Midwest. During those years she taught piano, directed church choirs and was an organist in many of their parishes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and six brothers.

She is survived by her children, Dawn Aarsvold of St. Louis Park, Minn., Julie Penley of Richland, Wash., Camilla Asp-Schussheim of Fayetteville, Ark., Angela Lombardo of Gifford, James W. Asp II of San Francisco, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to especially thank Angie and Steve Lombardo for her loving care in their home these past six years.
