Edgar Anstey was a pioneering British documentary film-maker whose socially oriented films include such films as: Housing Problems (1935), Enough to Eat? (1936), On the Way to Work (1936). During WWII he produced films for the British government. In the 1950s, Anstey became the head of the British Film Academy and the president of the International Scientific Film Association. In the mid-1960s, he served as governor of the British Film Institute and was chairman of the Society of Film and Television Arts. In 1966 a film he produced ‘Wild Wings' received an Academy Award for best non-fiction short subject.
