Joseph Worthy Beck died Feb. 10, 2013, of causes incident to age. Born Oct. 20, 1918, to Joseph Frederick Beck and Rebecca Ethel Porter Beck in Lanark, Idaho, he was the second child and oldest son of 11 children. He attended school in Lanark and Paris where he excelled in track, wrestling, and baseball. He was Idaho State Wrestling Champion in 1937. He graduated from Fielding High School in 1938 and was married to LaRue Clark in the Salt Lake Temple on June 14, 1939.
A lifelong resident of Bear Lake, he drove a school bus for Bear Lake County for 25 years. In addition to farming, he worked as a carpenter from an early age.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in Ward and Stake leadership positions for over 40 years, including four years as a temple ordinance worker in the Logan Temple.
He is survived by his wife LaRue Beck of Bountiful, Utah (formerly of Liberty), Michael Worthy (Susan) Beck, Merrill J. (Anthea) Beck, Darlene (Joe) Garlick and Corey Homer (Marion) Beck. He has 17 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at the Liberty Ward on Saturday, Feb.16, at 11 a.m. Family and friends may pay their respects prior to the funeral from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be at the Lanark cemetery.
