Union, Feb 10. - A P Bonham of Summers county departed this life on Monday, Jan 29, at his home near Red Sulphur Springs aged 78 years. He was born and reared in Monroe county and was a brother of Geo W Bonham, now of Blackstone, Virginia. The deceased was ill only a short time before his death. Mr Bonham was a Confederate soldier in the war between the States, serving bravely in Capt Vawter's Company (of infantry) until the end of hostilities. He was a citizen of sterling character, useful and esteemed in his community, and a member of the Presbyterian church. His first wife, who was a Miss Shumate, died in 1888. His second wife before marriage was Miss Victoria Gadd. She is still living. Besides her he is survived by three sons - Messrs E W, L E and Robert Bonham all of Princeton; and three daughters, Mrs Annie Ballard, Mrs L K Suttle and Mrs Lyda Ballard all of Monroe county. The interment took place at Red Sulphur church on Jan 30 Rev Henry Dillon conducting the funeral rites.
