Richard W. Seville, who moved to Massachusetts as a young child, was a graduate of Worcester Academy and attended Oberlin College in Ohio, the alma mater of his maternal grandmother. He underwent training at a Maryland facility by the U.S. Army in the intelligence field, which was followed by a fascinating tour of duty in France. Highly fluent in French, following his service, he worked for a number of years with the Division of Language Services of the U.S. State Department, as an escort-interpreter hosting numerous dignitaries from Europe and North Africa. Mr. Seville lived for many years in Boston, before returning to his native Worcester in 1993 where he succumbed to cancer, only months after the death of his mother.
