Margaret Covode Blair was born in Grand Rapids, the only daughter of Judge and Mrs. Charles B. Blair. She attended Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts and the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston. She married Charles W. Curtis Jr. of Marlborough, Massachusetts on 25 April 1916 in Grand Rapids, Michigan in a fashionable Watteau inspired ceremony & reception attended by both familes. The couple took their honeymoon in Havana, Cuba, an exotic destination at the time. They had five children, including Virginia Blair, Charles Willis III, James Blair, Margaret Frances and Mary Belle. The sons went on to become successful businessmen and daughter Margaret became a well known painter. They had ten grandchildren. Peggy Curtis was an avid gardener with a uniquely artistic flair.

Children: James Blair Curtis age 20, a bookkeeper in a bank, income $780 year, finished high school; Margaret Frances Curtis age 19, finished high school and Mary Belle Curtis age 16, junior in high school.
