Sarah was the only child of Abram Tyler's second marriage to Nancy Capen who survived to adulthood. The Tylers were both successful in business and property holdings, living on Park Street near the center of Hudson. Sarah and her husband, Lewis Clark, had two sons, Carl Abram and Fred Lewis Clark. Less than 5 years following the untimely death of husband Lewis, Sarah had a house built in nearby Marlborough, using the plans for her parents' Hudson home. There she raised her two sons, tended a modest farm with livestock, vegetables and a small orchard, as well as taking in borders once her sons had finished school and left home. She lived for 50 years in the house and passed away there just before Christmas of 1946. Sarah was also a fine seamstress, making many of her own garments, as well as some for her grand-children and great-grandchildren.
