Tuffy was born on May 14, 1936 in Cuzco, IN, to Walter J. "Whitey" and Mae (nee Nicholson) Anderson. He married Charlene Nelson on September 14, 1957 and she preceded him in death on August 10, 2010.
He was a 1955 graduate of French Lick High School and a graduate of Oakland City College where he attended on a basketball scholarship. From there he graduated from the Chicago Teachers College. Robert worked as a teacher for 26 1/2 years at Frankfort Elementary in Frankfort, IL and had also worked at the French Lick Springs and Resort Golf Courses. He attended Springs Valley Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid golfer and loved anything to do with basketball. He was a great fan of Larry Bird, the Indiana Pacers and the Chicago Bulls.
He is survived by his son, Stephen Anderson of Phoenix, AZ, sister, Mary "Susie" Sanders of French Lick, brother, Gerald "Red" Anderson of French Lick, sister-in-law, Patricia (Anderson) Hoffman of Jasper, uncles, Charlie Anderson of Dyer and Eugene Anderson of Demotte. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Charlene and brothers, Norman "Brownie" Anderson and Jim "Goose" Anderson.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 23, 2013 at T.L Pinnick Mortuary, 785 South Bears Bend Road, French Lick, with Rev. Darrell Wineinger officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Winslow at 2:00 PM (EST) following the service. Friends may call from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2013 and again on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 9:00 AM until service time at T.L Pinnick Mortuary.
