Rev. Patricia Ann Staublin Anderson, 45, of Poplar Grove, died Monday evening September 7, 2009 in her home, after a year long battle with metastatic colon cancer, in the company of those who loved and cared for her.

Patty was born in Chicago, IL on March 18, 1964, the daughter of Pat A. and Shirley J. (Cleghorn) Staublin. She moved to Rockford as a toddler and attended Court Street United Methodist Church, where she met her husband. She graduated from Guilford High School, Millikin University and Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. Patty married Stephen G. Anderson on October 4, 1986 in Rockford; to this union two sons were born.

Patty was an Ordained Elder in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. She served as a student pastor at the North Boone Co-Active Parish and then as the Sr. Associate Pastor at Christ United Methodist Church in Rockford.

She is loved and will be missed by so many including her husband, Stephen of Poplar Grove; sons, David and Patrick; brother, Andrew (Jennifer) Larson and her nephews, Aaron and Joshua as well as many other family and chosen family members.

She is predeceased by her father, Pat; mother, Shirley and step-father, James Larson.

Funeral Information

A service of Death and Resurrection celebrating Patty's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009, in Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Road, Rockford, with Rev. Richard Carl Wisdom, Rev. Cindy Marino, Rev. David Poust and Rev. Laura Barkley celebrating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Private burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery.

Patty has asked that in lieu of flowers that memorials go to fund the Intern Program at Christ United Methodist Church (4509 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL 61107) and for electronic communications.
