Isadore was born in Michigan to Eli Preston Watson and Elizabeth "Betsey" Gilbert and at a young age the family traveled to St Louis, Missouri and then up the Missouri River to Bellview, Nebraska. It was still the frontier and whenever Indians came to the house, Isadore was told to go and hide.

In the early 1870s, Isadore met and married James Sevier Cameron in Omaha. Isadore was a leading member of Omaha and Lincoln society. She was the mother of three daughters and one son.
