Actor. Born Malcolm Macleod Jr, he was a character actor who appeared in many films and television series during a career that span from the 1950s to the 1970s. He started as a bass singer for a quartet which performed for a local station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He would go on in radio to be a program director and station manager. He also got a start in acting in the 1930s at the Hilda Spong's Dramatic School. In 1954 he received his first acting role in the film "Dragnet". He would go on to appear in numerous films such as "Blood of Dracula" (1957), "North by Northwest" (1959), "Rio Bravo" (1959), "Advise & Consent" (1962), "The Birds" (1963), "Seven Days in May" (1964), "The Chase" (1966), and "Emperor of the North" (1973). He also made his first appearance on the television series "Medic" in 1954. He would go on to appear in many television series throughout his career with such credits as "Cavalcade of America", "Wagon Train", "Dragnet", "Lassie", "The Lineup", "Have Gun - Will Travel", "The Westerner", "Route 66", "Perry Mason", "The Fugitive", "Gunsmoke", and "Apple's Way". His son Malcolm Atterbury Jr. has been involved in the directing side of film and television. He passed away of old age.
