The 1920 census states Margaret immigrated to the United States in 1864. Margaret and Florien Deck were married in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 17, 1868. They migrated from Jefferson Parish, Louisiana to Westport, Missouri by the time of the 1880 census. Westport would not be annexed by Kansas City until 1897. Their four sons were born in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana and both daughters were born in Westport, Missouri. Their son Andrew is not included as a survivor in Margaret's obituary. I last found him as a boarder in the 1900 census of Kingfisher, Oklahoma Territory. He was 28 years old and working as a horse trainer.
One of Daniel Boone's grandsons, a successful trader in the West, had a grocery store at 500 Westport Road, a few blocks from where the Decks resided. It would have been a 10 to 15 minute walk from 3915 Pennsylvania Avenue to its intersection with Westport Road. Perhaps the Deck family shopped there on occasion. See picture.
