Fred George Burkhart was one of thirteen children born of the marriage of Coriolanus Domarus ('CD', "Crill") Burkhart and Caroline Burkhart of Linn County, Oregon. He was born on their donation land claim near Harrisburg on November 1st, 1857 and was raised on his family's farm with his many brothers and sisters. He married Laura Hale on Apr 18, 1888 in Linn, Oregon and they farmed a portion of his father's original donation land claim in the North Harrisburg area from 1910 until about the 1920's. They then moved to Salem, Marion County, where they purchased a home at 175 So. 17th in Salem. They were both in their golden years, Fred reaching the age of 72 in 1930, and Laura reaching the age of 67 that same year. Fred passed from this life the following year, just before Christmas, on Dec 23rd, 1931, from Myocarditis (an infection of the lining of the heart) at the age of 73. Laura continued on until 1961, reaching the age of 98 years. The couple never had any children. They are buried together at Riverside Cemetery, Albany, Linn County, Oregon, but are in Eternity, together again, Forever.
