After the 1964 debut release of 'The Dubliners' first album, co-founder Luke Kelly decided to leave the group. 'The Dubliners' other co-founder, Ronnie Drew, had heard fiddler John Sheahan, and singer/guitarist Bob Lynch playing in pubs around Dublin and asked them to join the group. This lineup produced the 1965 live album, The Dubliners In Concert (featuring Lynch's standout performance of "The Kerry Recruit" and "The Patriot Game"), and the 1965 musical film, "O'Donoghue's Opera". This version of 'The Dubliners' also included Ciaran Bourke, and Barney McKenna. Within a year, Luke Kelly decided to return, and Bobby Lynch, who was seemingly more content being a part-time musician, left the band. In addition to playing with "The Dubliners", Bob played and recorded his own music, releasing the album, "From the Land of Carolan" in 1980.
For a time he also operated an electrical business near Dublin. Arguably the most obscure member of "The Dubliners", little has been documented about the details of his life.
