Pauline Dorothy Turnbull Larson, 89, passed from this - life on March 1, 2003. Mother was born Jan. 1, 1914 in Monte Vista, Colorado to John Riley and Carrie Jeanette Turnbull. She spent her early - childhood in Alamosa, Colorado.

Her mother died when she was 14 and she moved to Phoenix to live with her older sisters. During her high school years at Phoenix Union High School she lived with the Fields Family caring for their home and children. In 1933 Pauline's dream of nursing began at St. Joseph's School of Nursing here in Phoenix, during her training she met her future husband, Winston Kimball Larson . . . she graduated in 1936 and she and Winston were married October 31, 1936.

Pauline continued a lifetime of nursing at Mercy Hospital in Prescott, St Mary's Hospital in Tucson, St Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, Litchfield Park Elementary School, Litchfield Park, Desert Mission (now John C. Lincoln), in Sunnyslope. Mother's dream job began in 1955 as the school nurse at Orangewood Elementary, Phoenix, for 23 yrs . . . she retired in 1979.

Pauline's love of nursing also showed as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. One of her most interesting jobs was when she traveled to California to help with the boat people as they arrived from Vietnam. Mom was also a 50 year plus member of Queen Esther, Chapter 22, Order of Eastern Star.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 12 siblings, son-in-law Kenneth Duistermars and her husband Winston.

Pauline is survived by her children, Sylvia Anderson (Arnold), Surprise Az, Judy Escobar Webb (Garry), Bakersfield, Ca/Glendale, Az, P. Janine Fryer Duistermars, Phoenix, Az, Winston Kris Larson (Barbara), Visalia, Ca, 13 grandchildren: Robert Anderson, Phoenix, Brian Escobar, Bakersfield, Ca, Jeffery Anderson, Flagstaff, Az, Becky Bowman, Alpine, Ut, Russell Fryer, Saxon Wold, South Africa, Julie Watters, Phoenix, Az, Eric Escobar, Los Osos, Ca, Stephanie Fryer, Phoenix, Az, Rodney Escobar, Spring Hill, Tn, Brenda Pace, Visalia, Ca., Matt Larson, Clovis, Ca, Brad Escobar, Eureka, Ca, Tim Larson, Clovis, Ca. , and 29 great grand-children. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The Larson family is deeply thankful for the support shown to our mother in her final years, fighting Dementia/ Alzheimer's. It was a long journey . . . and words of thank you seem inadequate to express
our thoughts to each of you at this time . . . family, friends and the caregivers at Glencroft Care Home and Hospice of the
Valley.

In lieu of flowers the family requests gifts to the Activities Department, Joshua Tree Alzheimer's Unit, Glencroft Care Center, 8611 North 67th Avenue, Glendale, Az 85302 or St Joseph's Foundation, 350 West Thomas, Phoenix, Arizona 85013.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2003 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bethany Home Ward, 8710 North 3rd Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. Visitation will be held in the Relief Society room at the same ward from 9 to 10 am with the service immediately following. A reception will be held after the services at the church. Internment will be at 2 pm, March 8th, at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 West Van Buren, Phoenix, Az. Arrangements made by A. L. Moore-Grimshaw/Advantage, Sunnyslope Chapel.
