Ethel Lucille Allen

Ethel Lucille Allen, 102, formerly of Centralia, died Saturday, March 9,1996, at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Onaga.

Mrs. Allen had farmed with her husband for 20 years in the Corning area. She also had taught school southwest of Corning and owned and operated a grocery store with her husband.

She was born August 5,1893, at Vermillion, the daughter of Edward and Margaret Hospkins Pfiester. She attended school at Centralia and the Moore Teachers Institute. She had lived near Corning, Beatrice, Nebr., and at Centralia before moving to Onaga in 1985.

Mrs. Allen was a member of Corning Methodist Church.

She married Carl Frederick Allen on May 22,1917. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by an infant son.

Survivors include a son, Robert L. Allen, Hays; a daughter, Marilyn J. Sherer, Longmont, Colo.; five grandchildren.

Services were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hayes Popkess Mortuary at Centralia. Burial was at Corning.
