THE MOST FEARED DAY OF My WHOLE LIFE was Realized on July 8, 2003. I cried as a little girl, scared she would die. She would rock me and pat my back. I know she is with me always...

MY BELOVED GRANNY -

My heart and soul still ache for her soft loving touch...I played this song at your funeral ~*~
I Can Only Imagine

My Precious Mama's Precious Mama - Our Angel Granny -For all you did for EVERYONE - your little girl, my Mama, had this song played Dear Granny ~*~ I Owe You

Born in Mt.Vernon, OH August 12th, 1910 - to Guy Raymond Hogle and Nacy Ella (Landis)Hogle. The origin of her middle name "Houck" was given in honor fo Dr. Houck, of Mt. Vernon, OH who delivered the baby(and she always disliked the name).

At 13 years old, older sister Elsie and the Hogle children did their Patriotic Duty and joined the Red Cross of Mt. Vernon, OH. The Family was very poor, and the Red Cross letter thanks them for their sacrifice. Aslo, a letter came form a WWI Soldier stationed in France, a friend of the Family - who read the children's story in the newspaper overseas. The original letter is here as a testimonial. 1918

The Hogle family moved to Yukon, OK after the murder of her sister Elsie Hogle Bertolet and they took her nephew Bernard Bertolet with them. In 1926, she met Arthur Tom Floyd. The family again moved to Phoenix AZ. where "Vi" married A.T. on 11/28/1928. The newlyweds lived on a homestead in desert where AT Floyd, Jr (Joe) was born 8/31/30; They moved back to Seagoville, TX in the early 30's. Upon the death of my Papa's Daddy - Oscar M. Floyd in 1942, the family moved to the Floyd Homestead (Dallas, TX) close to Lancaster, TX. They remained there for the rest of their lives, noth died in the house - in the same room that Papa was born in - 1907 and delivered by a mid-wife Verdie Stevenson. they died 13 yrs apart.

Other children Guy Raymond Floyd 12/29/32; Nancy Mae Floyd 9/14/42 and Patricia Margaret Floyd 10/04/45. Viola - fondly known as GRANNY - was a housewife and took in ironings. She lived to be 91.5 yrs - Matriarch of Family - died of Alzheimers. The property is the remaining portion of the George Floyd headright granted by the Peters Colony in 1848. Family still lives on property as of today's entry. (Still on property 2013)

This was my Granny -- I am her Doodle -- I miss her terribly --- never thought I could go on- but she always told me "Where there is a will, there is a way.." and I have that will.. I will make her proud. Granny always loved snow, she would talk about riding on a sled, that Mr. Berger would pile hay squares on and pick up all the schoolkids. Riding behind that "old-nag" (the horse)was such a fond memory she had. She also would tell how her Daddy stretched taffy on the porch in the wintertime. He would make the taffy and had two nails and would "STRETCH - and STRETCH the TAFFY". All the kids loved it! She had twin brotheres, Walter and Wallace Hogle, brother Ed Hogle, (all lived their lives in Phoeniz, AZ - Wallace moved to Topeka, KS in later years.) Sister Peggy Grace Walker (who was born Grace Gustenberger Hogle) ***she disliked Gustenberger - she was named in honor of a lawyer in Mt. Vernon, OH - so she legally chanaged her name to Peggy Grace Hogle. She lived in Milwaukee, WI (where she met her husband George Koncesny and married) they changed the name to Walker for simplicity;lived in Dallas, TX and are both buried at LaurelLand near Granny and Papa Floyd...12 steps from my Granny's feet to Uncle George - unfer the tree by the bench. Aunt Peggy is in another section of the cemetery. The sister who died so young was Elsie Hogle Bertolet, she died at or around 18 yrs in Phoenix, AZ the victim of modern day "domestic abuse" - she was made to drink carbolic acid by her husband.. Granny never got over her beautiful sister's death. She left a little boy, Bernard Bertolet -"Aunt Vi's Little Bernie Boy" - who lived his life out in Phoneix, AZ as well. Will add more later...

Granny always sang this song when she washed dishes.

* My Granny Viola Floyd suffered with Alzheimers, and on July 3, 2003 - she went into a coma - she never came out of it and passed onto Glory July 8, 2003. I just called my Mother to tell her that Great-Grandmother's death on 7/3 and Granny's coma on 7/3 brought me peace.
My Mother, Patricia Floyd-Dodd shared with me that the night before Granny slipped into a coma, she told my Mama that her Mother came as a beautiful Angel with sparkling wings, she kneeled on the floor praying - they spoke and she was gone.
We now have an inner peace that Great-Grandmother came on own Angel Day, July 3rd and prayed for her Little Girl's relief from this world's pain. This is profound and I know Granny will come back for us too someday.

Kindly respect my Granny's Memorial:

~No Halloween Tokens
and
~No Silly Tokens please,

Thank you for your respect.

Granny loved Our Lord Jesus Christ, she was his Little Lamb when she went through those Pearly Gates.

.
Granny had a knack for collecting newspaper articles from the early 1950's onward. The family thanks her - her treasure was found after death. We believe she wanted it that way. Colorful characters.
