This is our Mother; she was called Peg by my Dad and many people. Her Father and Mother split up, leaving my Grandmother Drake with seven children to raise alone by working in a laundry. My Mother was the youngest child and had an austere childhood. She quit school at an early age to do her part in keeping the family housed and fed. As a young woman, she loved to dance. I have no idea how she and my Dad ever met. Dad was not a dancer. My Mother had a very rough time when my sister was born and then two months later, our brother Billy died.
My Mother was second generation Irish-American.

May you always have walls for the winds. A roof for the rains, tea beside the fire. Laughter to cheer you, those you love near you, and all that your heart may desire.
