On Jan. 20th, 2003 Kenneth Anderson (Grandpa Ken) walked into the arms of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was 82 years old. The last of seven children, he was richly blessed by a large happy family. After graduating from Stadium High he attended Westmont College in CA, where he met his wife Helen. They married in 1946 and lived in Whittier, CA until finally settling in Tacoma where their door was always open and the coffee pot always ready. Ken served overseas during WWII where his childhood faith was tested and confirmed. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1975. He was then free to devote himself to his passion - carpentry, where he used his skills and gifts to serve his community and all his family and friends until his stroke in 1998. Everyone who has known Ken has been struck by his sincerity, his humility, his patience, and his unsinkable sense of humor, especially striking during the 5 years he endured intense challenges following his stroke. Nevertheless, his hope has not been in the fact that he was a great dad, a faithful friend to countless, or a devoted member of his church Faith Presbyterian, but his hope has always been IN CHRIST ALONE. It is for this that his children, his grandchildren and his friends thank him most. All Glory to God!
His wife, Helen, has awaited him in heaven since 1993.
We thank our host of brothers and sisters in Christ who have prayed for peace and comfort in these final days. The battle has been won! "Where O death is your victory? Where O death is your sting? . . . Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." - 1 Corinthians 15:55 We all miss our dad, "Grandpa Ken" and faithful friend, but we know we will see him again. What is he doing right now? We can only imagine . . . Remembrances, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Hope for New York (Redeemer. com). Graveside service at New Tacoma Cemetery.
