Myra Katherine Hughes was born on October 14, 1907, in Iron County, Missouri, the child of Joseph Benton and Nellie Hughes. Myra became the second wife of Lovelace Grant LaPlant. They had one son and two daughters. Myra's second marriage was to William M. Parton. She died in April 1992 in Dixie County, Florida, at the age of 84, and was buried at Old McCrabb Cemetery, Old Town, Dixie County, Florida. Myra and William M. Parton share a tombstone. Lovelace Grant LaPlant shares a tombstone with his third wife, Maxine Thurman.
