John Worth Barker was born june 13, 1849, at Gatliff Bottom, Virginia (now West Virginia), on New river about four or five miles upstream from the mouth of Bluestone River. He married Melissia Mary Meadows on Jan 26, 1871, Melissa was born December 2, 1853, near Hinton on Learherwood and died March 18, 1942, at True, West Virginia. John Worth lived near True on Bluestone River. He was a prominent farmer and owned one of the best kept farms which was known as the "Clark" place. He took part in public affairs and was a Republican. He was a surveyor and a jeweler. He died in Baltimore, Maryland , on MARCH 7, 1911. both John W. and Melissa were buried in the Crws Cemetery at Nimitz, West Virginia. John and Melissa had 12 children
