Dr. E. Marie Burdette, 104, died Sunday, April 1, 2006, at the Park Place Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Interment was in the Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Born July 3, 1901, in Cedar Vale, she was the daughter of Arthur U. and Daisy E. (Hills) Burdette. She was a musical instructor at Southwestern College and Winfield College of Music and gave private piano and organ lessons until 2000. Survivors include her great-nieces, Susan Tracy, Stamford, Conn., Nancy Watt, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; great-nephews, Thomas Hauer, Gastonia, N.C., James Hauer, Cedar Raids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by two sisters; three brothers, including her twin brother, Penrose; and a niece.

Memorials have been established for Southwestern College, E. Marie Burdett Scholarship and First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Swisher-Taylor & Morris funeral Home, Winfield.
