When the towers were attacked – his building was evacuated, and he walked to his home in midtown Manhattan. He began to experience trouble breathing and later died from an inflammatory disease of the lungs. The death was ruled by the medical examiner to have been caused by inhaling toxic substances from the dust cloud of the collapsing buildings.
